🚀 Getting started / What is it?
What is Kruxmind?
Kruxmind is a complete speedcubing tool: timer with scrambles, algorithm library, trainers and analysis of your solving performance. It's built to help you understand and improve how you solve, with real data and an honest foundation. Available in 4 languages.
Who is it for? Do I need to know how to solve?
It's for anyone interested in the cube, from complete beginners to advanced cubers. You don't need to know how to solve it: there's an algorithm library, methods and trainers to learn from scratch, plus a timer to track your progress.
I've never solved a cube — is it useful for me?
Yes. You can learn with the algorithm library (CFOP, Roux, notation, patterns) and the trainers. Also, the Performance Bank has exercises (planning, simulated rotation, memory) you can do and measure even if you can't solve a cube yet. Just note: they train those specific skills — they don't promise to make you "smarter" in general.
Is it for beginners or experts?
Both. There's beginner content (methods, notation, basic algorithms, recognition trainers) and advanced tools (ZBLL, CMLL, performance analysis, multiphase, solve reconstruction). You pick your level.
How is it different from csTimer or other apps?
Beyond the timer and stats, Kruxmind cross-references your reconstruction with a performance analysis (5 axes) and a Performance Bank based on a peer-reviewed study (Zarei 2025). Its focus is honesty: it measures what's observable in your solves and doesn't promise what science doesn't back.
📲 Download & install
Where do I download Kruxmind?
Go to kruxmind.app in your browser and you can use it right away. On Android you can install it as an app (it's published on Google Play). No download needed to start.
Is it on Google Play / App Store?
On Google Play it's published for Android. On iPhone/iOS there's no app yet; you can use it from your browser at kruxmind.app. The current focus is Android.
Can I install it as an app from the browser (PWA)?
Yes. On Android/Chrome, open kruxmind.app and use "Add to home screen" / "Install app". It behaves like an app, without the browser bar.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. After opening it at least once with a connection, the timer, in-person 1v1 battles, the cubes module and elimination mode work without internet; your solves stay on the device and sync on their own when you're back online. Other sections need internet.
What languages is it in?
In four: Spanish, English, Portuguese (BR) and German. You can switch language anytime in the app (and here, by typing "language").
⏱️ Timer & solves
How do the timer and 15s inspection work?
The timer generates a scramble per event, offers a 15s inspection (WCA rule) with warnings at 8s and 12s (visual and voice), and logs every solve with ao5, ao12, PB and history.
Does it give voice warnings during inspection?
Yes. During the 15s inspection it warns at 8s and 12s, with visual and voice cues, like in WCA competition.
How do I set +2 or DNF (penalties)?
It uses the WCA penalty model: you can mark a solve as +2 or DNF from the sessions/solves list. DNFs sort to the bottom of rankings.
Are the scrambles valid / per event?
Kruxmind generates scrambles for each event (3x3, 2x2, 4x4–7x7, Pyraminx, Skewb, Megaminx, Square-1, Clock, FTO) following the WCA no-repeated-axis rule. Note: FTO uses random-move scrambles (not yet WCA-official).
Does it save my times, ao5, ao12 and PB?
Yes. Every solve is logged with ao5/ao12/ao100 averages, your best (PB), standard deviation and charts, all saved on your device.
Can I see the split by phases (Cross/F2L/OLL/PLL)?
Yes, with multiphase mode: if you record Cross, F2L, OLL and PLL splits, the analysis shows your bottleneck and your consistency per phase. It only computes with real splits; it never invents times.
Can I time a solve from a video, without a smart cube?
Yes. The frame-count tool (FrameCount) lets you upload a solve video and mark start and end frame by frame, to get the real time and TPS without needing a smart cube.
Does it support smart cube or Stackmat?
Yes. The Timer (kruxmind.app/timer) connects smart cubes over Bluetooth (GAN, MoYu and QiYi) with automatic solve start, plus external timers: Stackmat via cable and a Bluetooth timer. The online 1v1 (battle.kruxmind.app) also supports smart cubes in matches.

🎯 Trainers & practice
Which trainers does it have?
OLL/PLL/COLL recognition, Cross and F2L trainer, case practice with spaced repetition, trainers for 2x2, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb and 4x4, blindfolded memo, frame counting and solve reconstruction.
Can I train OLL/PLL recognition?
Yes, there are dedicated OLL, PLL and COLL recognition trainers to practice identifying the case fast and executing without thinking.
Does it have a Cross and F2L trainer?
Yes: Cross and F2L trainers (basic and advanced), to practice planning and execution of the first steps.
A blindfolded (BLD) memo trainer?
Yes. The memo trainer (and Memo BLD with Speffz, 24 letters) measures your memorization time and accuracy, the basis of Blindfolded.
Is there a virtual cube?
Yes, a virtual cube to practice and visualize moves on screen.
Can I reconstruct and analyze a solve?
Yes. The guided reconstruction (3x3, CFOP) helps you rebuild your solve step by step to see where the time goes.
📊 Performance analysis
What is the performance analysis (5-axis profile)?
It's a profile of your performance on 5 axes —Focus, Consistency, Regulation, Fluency and Enjoyment— computed from your solves and your session check-in. They describe how you solve, not judgments about you.
What does each axis measure exactly?
Focus: sustained attention (from your check-in). Consistency: how regular your times are (statistical variation). Regulation: recovery after a bad solve. Fluency: rhythm smoothness/lookahead. Enjoyment: your reported motivation. All are observables of your solving.
Does it diagnose anything or measure my internal state?
No. Kruxmind doesn't diagnose or measure internal or health states. It only describes observable data from your solves (times, pauses, consistency). It's not a medical device and doesn't replace professional health support.
Where does that data come from?
From your own solves (times, phases, consistency) and your voluntary session check-in. All computation happens on your device; nothing is inferred about you as a person.
Is it Pro? Why does it ask me to verify age?
The accumulated performance analysis is a Pro feature. It asks you to confirm you're of legal age (18+) before enabling those layers, as a scope precaution.
🔬 Performance Bank & science
What is the Performance Bank?
It's a layer of exercises (planning, visuospatial reading, simulated rotation, working memory and motor skill) inspired by the tasks in the Zarei (2025) speedcubing study. You measure your performance in each exercise and track your progress. The tests themselves are free; the accumulated analysis (Performance Index IRK, history and correlations) is Pro.
Which exercises are there and what does each train?
Tower of London (planning), JLAP-15 (angle perception/visuospatial), Memory Match (working memory, 6 modes), FMS (fine finger motor skill), Simulated rotation (imagining the cube rotated in 3D) and Memo BLD (memorization with Speffz).
Can I do them even if I can't solve a cube?
Yes. Tower of London, JLAP-15, Simulated rotation and Memo BLD are played on screen and don't require knowing the cube. Memory Match has a pure visual-memory mode. They train those specific skills; they don't promise general improvement.
Do I need a physical cube?
Only the FMS exercise (finger motor skill) needs a physical cube to repeat a trigger. The rest are done on screen.
Will this make me smarter or improve my performance in general?
No. Practicing the cube and these exercises mainly improves what's closest (the cube itself, simulated rotation, planning, dexterity). It won't make you "smarter" in general, improve your grades or prevent illness: the best studies indicate that far transfer is essentially nil. We prefer to be honest.
What is the Zarei (2025) study and what does it actually prove?
It recorded the brain activity of experienced cubers (13 participants) while solving and doing four tasks: planning, visuospatial, spatial working memory and fine motor skill. Kruxmind reproduces that battery measuring behavioral performance. It's correlational: it doesn't prove the cube improves abilities, nor does it measure your brain.
What is the IRK (Performance Index)?
It's a number (0–100) that summarizes your performance across four exercises (planning 35%, visuospatial 25%, memory 20%, motor 20%). It's not an EEG and doesn't measure your brain or intelligence: it only summarizes your performance in those exercises. It's a Pro feature.
Does the waves / binaural audio work?
It's an optional ambient audio. Its effect isn't scientifically proven and it doesn't reproduce or induce any brain activity. We offer it as ambience, not as treatment.
Is there a personalized training plan?
Yes. From your profile (level, available time, goals) it generates a weekly plan in three phases (adaptation, development, consolidation), combining cube and exercises. It's a practice guide; it doesn't guarantee results.
⚔️ Compete
Is there a 1v1 mode?
Yes, two: an in-person 1v1 inside the app (two players taking turns on the same device, works offline) and the online 1v1 at battle.kruxmind.app, already available, with matchmaking, ELO, smart cubes and spectators.
Is 1v1 online or on the same device?
Both exist. This app's 1v1 is in-person, on the same device (and works offline). The online 1v1 (matchmaking, ELO, smart cube, spectators) lives at battle.kruxmind.app.
What is Elimination mode?
It's a round-based mode with inspection: if you fail, you're eliminated. A challenge format to test your consistency.
What is the Daily Challenge?
Every day there's a scramble of the day per category with a live shared leaderboard: with your account your time is published and you compete with everyone playing that day; without an account it stays as a local record. When posting you can choose whether that solve is also added to your stats.
💎 Pro, free & pricing
Is Kruxmind free?
Yes, most of it is free: timer, session logging, basic algorithms, trainers, daily challenge, 1v1 and elimination, and the whole reference. There are Pro features (accumulated analysis, unlimited history, full library). The free features stay free.
What's included free and what's Pro?
Free: timer with inspection, per-solve analysis, daily challenge/1v1/elimination, full reference, basic algorithm set and trainers, and the Performance Bank tests (Tower of London, JLAP-15, Memory Match, FMS, Simulated Rotation, Memo BLD). Pro: the Performance Bank's accumulated analysis (IRK Index, history, correlations), advanced stats and unlimited history, export, heatmap and full library, no ads.
How much does Pro cost?
There are monthly, 6-month, yearly and lifetime plans with per-region pricing. You can see them in the Pro section of the app.
Can I buy Pro yet?
Yes. Pro is bought on the web with secure payment (Paddle); the free features stay free.
Does it have ads?
Some free modules may show ads (Google AdSense), only with your consent and never during a solve. Kruxmind Pro shows no ads.
Why don't I see Pro on the web?
You do: Pro is bought on the web (kruxmind.com/pro, secure payment with Paddle) and is tied to your Kruxmind account.
🔒 Data & privacy
What data do you collect? Is it safe?
Kruxmind stores your usage data (times, sessions, progress) on your own device. It doesn't infer or store emotional or health states, and it's not a medical device. It's a speedcubing tracker.
Does my data leave my device?
Only if you choose to. Without an account, or without enabling sync, everything stays on your device. If you enable sync (with your explicit consent), your sessions and solves are stored in the cloud to share them across your devices. We don't sell data.
Can I export and import my data?
Yes. From the data backup you can export a JSON file with your nickname, sessions and progress, and import it back (it replaces current data, with confirmation).
Can I delete my data?
You can manage your sessions inside the app and, if you have a cloud account, delete it at kruxmind.app/eliminar-cuenta. A single button to erase all local data at once is on the way; for now, local data is cleared from your browser/device.
Can I sync across devices?
Yes. Create your account and log in (kruxmind.app/cuenta), then enable sync: your solves and sessions are stored in the cloud and shared across your devices (web, Android and the Timer). Solves done offline upload on their own once you're back online.
Why does it ask me to verify I'm of legal age?
The performance-analysis layers ask you to confirm you're of legal age (18+) as a scope precaution, before enabling them. It's a one-time step.
